Experienced cosmetic surgeons are finding the new dissolvable Endotine devices very useful adjuncts to conventional facelift surgery. Reducing the time under anaesthetic without compromising the result is always a goal post in modern medicine.
There are several types of devices depending upon the area to be lifted but the overall theory is the same. Dissolvable devices with small hooks alongside are passed under the skin and drawn backwards. The tiny barbs catch the tissue allowing for it to be ‘lifted’ back and the device is sutured in the hairline. The lifted skin and tissue anchors itself naturally into place over the following six+ months whilst the device is dissolving to give a very natural shape to the cheeks, forehead and/or neck.
Endotine Neck Ribbons: these are used to define the lower face and neck to reduce jowls and a ‘turkey’ neck, giving a very natural result. The ribbons are strips of dissolvable material with an increased number of tiny barbs along the surface of the device and can be placed using a small incision or as part of a full face/necklift.
Benefits include:
The length can be adjusted giving the surgeon options to customise the procedure for each patient.
Can be minimally invasive, and even performed under heavy sedation rather than full anaesthetic.
